The Post Office originated in Brazil on January 25, 1663 and since then has been modernizing, creating and providing quality services that match the expectations of its customers.
The company performs an important function of integration and social inclusion, an indispensable role for national development. In the composition of its revenues, it earns 54.3% of revenues from exclusive services (letter, telegram and group mail), so that the market reserve of these three services is an essential factor for survival and for guaranteeing the universalization of services postcards.
Side by side with the social aspect, the Post Office offers solutions, with the latest technology, to meet the communication needs of companies and institutions in an increasingly competitive market. This is the case of Sedex, created in 1982, which has become one of the main products of the company and leads the express parcels sector in Brazil. In the last years, the service started to rely on other modalities, such as Sedex 10, Sedex 12, Sedex Hoje and Sedex Mundi, thus speeding up the delivery of parcels.
Due to the strong capillarity of the company, the provision of financial services in the post offices is increasingly an important contribution to the banking inclusion of millions of Brazilians. Since the creation of the Postal Bank, thousands of people, who had to move to a neighboring city to perform a simple banking operation, now have the convenience of being able to do everything in their own city.
Driven by technological, economic and social changes, the Post Office began a thorough modernization process in 2011. With the enactment of Law 12,490 / 11, the company has expanded its field of activity and was endowed with modern tools of corporate management to face competition with the provision of more agile and efficient services for the whole society.
Under the new law, the Post Office can operate abroad and in the postal segments of electronic, financial and integrated logistics services; establish subsidiaries, acquire control or share ownership in established companies and establish commercial partnerships that add value to your brand and your service network.
This new position will contribute to ECT becoming a "world class" company, highlighted by its practices and results, in line with the trust that the Brazilian citizen has always placed in the Post Office.
